Prather Cue made in 1999. I have had this cue in my collection for quite some time now and have decided to sell to help fund another purchase. The cue plays like it should and is dead straight assembled or disassembled. Weight is between 17 and 18 ounces with no weight in it. Weight bolt had been removed when I purchased the cue in 2001 and I never bothered to get another for it as I like a lighter cue. Still hits real solid for a lighter cue and I move the cue ball around the table just fine with it. The first picture is of the 5/16 x 14 piloted joint. Second picture is the butt cap with the prather signature. Note: (The buttcap has an imperfection.) There is about a 1/4 x 1/4 inch chip in the buttcap just to the left of the signature. This is not in the handle, it is in the cap. This is a cue that I play with and if kept as a collector piece I would have it repaired. It never affected the way it performed so I never messed with. It has not split or cracked in all of the time I have owned it. Third pic is of the handle and forearm splice where the cue is joined together. There are three high and three low points here done in what appears to be cocobolo wood with what appears to be ebony tails on the high points and ivory tails on the low points. At the end of the tails are ebony and ivory dot inlays with ebony dots low and ivory dots high. Fourth picture is of the ebony forearm. Fifth picture is of the beautiful birdseye handle. Birdseye this highly figured is rare and I can only assume that the cues price in 1999 is reflective of that fact. The shaft: I have done nothing but wipe the shaft down after playing with it since I have owned it. It is dirty with chalk, but I will let the winning bidder clean it if that is what they desire. I personally will use nothing on my shafts except a dry towel. It is between 11.75 and 12mm. It is tightly grained and has always been stored inside...Very lively and produces alot of true english with very little deflection. Overall Condition. This is a cue that has been played with! It has one major blemish which is the buttcap that I have described which I believe is made of ebony instead of the more common plastic cap. There are also very minor places in the clear coat along the butt of the cue that will not show up in any picture with any quality of camera that I would use to show them. The shaft has no major dings or rash. I have used over the years a moori medium tip and have been very happy with it but the tip had worn down to the point that it was time to replace it a couple of weeks ago and I put a lepro medium on it. I knew I would be selling to help fund my new cue purchase. I have sinced played with it for several hours and reshaped the tip so it plays just as well now as it did with the moori on it. So essentially it comes with a newer lepro tip. Cue will come with an IT'S GEORGE Leather Case. The picture does not show it but the case is in perfect condition inside and out. Rare for a case this old. I see these cases on ebay from time to time sell for anywhere from $50.00 to $100.00 depending on condition. There is a pocket on the outside of the case for chalk, tip tools, etc. The adjustable nylon strap is in perfect condition as well as the zipper. It is intended as a one butt one shaft case but I have carried a cue with two shafts and it handled them just fine. It is very uncommon to see one in this condition. I have sold several cues out of my personal collection over the years on ebay and not once have I ever had a complaint about my descriptions.
