UP FOR AUCTION: 's a remarkable example of late nineteenth century Aesthetic Art Pottery with the strong influence of Christopher Dresser. It's a very important looking vase by Mettlach of Germany c. 1880-1900, made of stoneware with contrasting matte and majolica glazes and gold highlights. Standing 12 1/4" high, it features a band of ultra-stylized sunflowers with gold highlights on the leaves and flower-centers and two sea green dolphins with lifelike tails. Colors are matt steel blue, dark burgundy, white, sea green and gold. Impressed Mettlach mark. I have seen a lot of Mettlach & Villeroy & Boch vases, but never one as outrageous and unusual as this. This will definitly be the highlight of any collection. Condition: no chips, cracks or hairlines and NO RESERVE as usually so good luck!!! Check out my other items ! Be sure to add me to your favorites list ! PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE our low starting bids with QUALITY. We would like you to have the THRILL of bidding on EXCITING finds without the worry of reserves!
