Rockingham Presentation Pitcher, manufactured at Perth Amboy, New Jersey by Swan Hill Pottery or their successor J.L. Rue. (Bennington was a big producer of this type of ware but many other pottery used this type of glaze, I was told this is Swan Hill or J.L. Rue but I am no expert) Yellow ware , slip cast with mottled brown Rockingham-type glaze. Features hunt scene with two mounted horsemen, three hounds chasing a stag in forest setting. Flared foot, twig form handle, floral scrollwork border and presentation name applied to front and in white glaze with "Elizabeth" . Interior has 3" long full-bodied seated frog in mottled brown and green glaze; 9.5" high x 8" wide x 9" long. Firing crack to base and small old chip to rim.
