A 19c Creamware Sunderland Lustre Masonic Jug Bowl RARE.A fine pink/purple Sunderland Lustre Masonic Jug with matching Bowl,both pieces are light as feathers,with good transfers and bright splashes of color.Both are good early examples of Sunderland.The Jug with two black transfers,one with many of the various Masonic symbols,including a banner,which reads,"IT LUX ET LUX FUIT".The Masonic Lodges motto to the reverse.The Motto reads:"Hail! MASONRY devine!Glory of ages shine,Long mayst thou reign!Wer thy LODGES stand,May they have great command,And always grace the land,Thou ART divine!"The Bowl is without motto.Jug,7" in Height,7 1/4" from Spout to Handle.Bowl, 10 1/4" in diameter,4" Deep.Both in mint condition,the bowl has a slight,light extremely tiny scratch to the bottom,mentioned for accuracy,does not affect the beauty or appearance of these fine early pieces.Unmarked,except for an extremely small impressed mark to underside of bowl,impossible to read,possibly appears to be impressed star.Please see SUNDERLAND POTTERY,by John C.Baker,page 24.I honestly don't know if this set is Dixon,Garrison or perhaps Scott.Will be delighted to post if anyone should recognize.Please take a look at our current listings,including an early Pearlware Sunderland Mug with FROG,Staffordshire Dogs and many more early English ceramics.You are bidding read more
