W do I begin with a gorgeous piece like this? First off, my photos do not do it justice, but please view all photos for an idea of the detail. Not only is it hand painted, the molding is precise and of the highest quality, look at her fingernails! The grouping is set on a leopard skin rug, which still has the head and tail at either end. T is a Victorian cradle in the background and the mother is holding the sleeping baby in her lap while the other children look on. The hand painting is beautiful, please see the little girl and boy's faces and clothing. The chair the lady is sitting in is molding to look like fine, hand carved wood. This piece is large and very heavy. It measures over 11" high to top of cradle netting and the base is 12.25" wide and 7" deep, and weighs almost 9 lb. alone. It is in remarkable condition for a bisque piece of this age, other then paint wear from being wiped or dusted over the decades the little girl's right hand has been glued back on. It is marked on the bottom with an impressed H, the mark of Gebr (Bros.) Silbermann, Hausen, Bavaria, Germany, 1802-1938. The company was taken over by Alboth & Kaiser. T is also an impressed 78 over LaM or L&M. Please see my other beautiful antique figurines.
