Late 19th Century, Goldstone & Brass, Nanny Pin - Brooch - Sewing Etui / Kit. The Nanny Brooch/Pin is an emergency sewing set that was patented in 1895. A nanny wore this unusual pin more as a badge of office than for serious sewing. The traditional version is made of brass and is decorated with a central gold-stone accented on either side with decorative brass leaves. One end of the brooch unscrews to reveal its contents. A cylinder with thread wound around it pulls out and it opens further to reveal a needle and pin. Stamped on back of pin “DRGM 268036". This exact nanny pin is pictured in “Antique Needlework Tools & Embroideries” by Nerylla Taunton on Page 208 Colorplate 225. Measuring approximately 2 inches in length. Clasp in perfect working order. Guaranteed antique. GREAT condition - NO: DINGS, DENTS, REPAIRS, CHIPS, FLAKES, or CRACKS! A must have for the serious sewing collector! PRICED TO SELL!! **FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE** Be sure to add me to your favorites list ! " /shops/jerischwartzantiques "Visit Jeri Schwartz Antiques at Ruby Lane!
