Up for auction is a very early Victorian era Silver over Brass Match Safe dating from the 1800's. It is made of solid brass and has either a silver or nickel over the brass. The match safe has a wonderful starburst decor on it and is hand made. The design has an art deco look and was done before its time! This match safe is an amazing find and has a push button to open the top. The top pops open and is spring loaded. This match safe has no marks and has the striker on the bottom. The top is hinged and is in excellent tight condition. The item measures approx. 3 inches tall when closed and 1 1/2 inches wide. Amazing detail and craftsmanship on this item with a very nice original patina. It also is in great shape with no dents, no cracks, no repairs and no major wear to speak of. The safe closes perfectly and the hinge is in great original tight condition. This is by far one of the coolest match safes I have ever seen! This was recently purchased out of a 120 year estate of along time collector. It has been safely stored away since the 1930's and preserved in its original shape and quality.
