Very Rare PEWTER CANDLE EXTINGUISHER, AMERICAN FIRST QUARTER OF THE 19TH CENTURY. These are usually found in tin or silverplate, rarely do you find one in PEWTER. A great shaped top, similiar to the tops of early coffee and tea pots. This is a very rare piece of early lighting.The color and condition are perfect, a few dents and dings but no repairs or breaks. Done in a nice early rolled and polished pewter. The applied tinned iron handle is an added feature. For similar examples in tin see "The Rushlight", page 118This great item is 3 1/4" tall and 1 1/4" across the base. Typical wear and imperfections with age. Low starting Price and NO reserve.
