A scarce antique 19th century Navy sailor's knife with bone handles. One side of the handle reads in old ( scrimshaw ) script "Geoffrey Hill U.S.N. 1873, reverse reading (USS Eagle) for "United States Ship Eagle"with silver mounted shield . The cutting blade stamped U.S. Navy. Maintains 4 of the original 5 blades., Including spike (punch),main curved hawk blade, corkscrew and hook. Produced by Rabone Bros. & Co., This company specialized in mainly sales to the American Colonies which would indicate the knife possibly predates the inscription. Finding original early knives produced by this maker., especially pocket knife "folders" is extremely rare. Overall condition of knife is very good.
