19TH CENTURY BENT PANEL SLAG GLASS LAMP Presented for auction is this very extraordinary Bent Panel Slag Glass Lamp from the late 1800s to the Turn of the Century. Measures 22 1/2" high with a 7" diameter base while the Shade alone measures 17" in diameter at it's widest point. Very, Very Heavy Lamp. The 6 Panel Slag Glass Shade is featured in a rich Carmel color and has a heavy goldtone metal applied over the Shades in a Filagree and painted enameled Floral motif. Pink and Green Flowers and Leaves are shown as well as on the base. The base flares at the base and and shows embossed Pink and Green Flowers and Leaves as well. A wonderful Finial with Crown is shown and the Shade fits over this area and rests into the Crown nicely and adds great interest to this piece. Every aspect of aesthetics were clearly thought out when making this Lamp. This Lamp is a double Lamp and still has the original silk cord with an off white bakelite? plug. One of the light fixtures does work while the other does not and will need wiring updated which I recommend on all of my antique lighting for safety reasons. Two brass Chains adorn each light and the Chains are operational. T is some slight wear and t to the finish of the base. The Shade shows one thin crack in one of the Panels towards the base and does not affect the integrity (see image). If read more
