Click picture to see actual image size. 19C Brown Transferware Chrysanthemum English Butter Pat Naturalistic Aesthetic Pine seaweed Mum japonesque Welcome to our royalbert auction and adorable transferware etc store for an antique 3" diameter medium and light (gray) black transfer decorated white ironstone English butter pat! Design is placed in Japanese Oriental manner without a border and starting at or slightly off center, with grape vine or branch 8 sided wreath with blossoms, leaves, ferns and tendrils "spilling" toward outer rim little work of art! We refer to this way of balanced design as japonesque naturalism. This butter pat is not signed, common for period before 1891 and manufacture most likely at that time. We do own a damaged same pattern butter pat with just Pattern name Alton. We do not know which Staffordshire or England potter made this butter pat, but we do know from experience that it exhibits evidence of its Victorian Age, including potters marks at face and at under side, expected fine overall clear craze, less than perfect period manufacture caused little transfer placement centering mistake, skips, strays and extras as well as many tiny pits and "bumps" to texture.This excellent used original antique has no cracks, chips, scratches, discoloration or stain and is not repaired.
