19th C Chinese bowl and cover decorated in Ch'ien Lung type of enamel style. The porcelain is pure and very white and the lime green and blue raised enamel decoration is skillfully applied. T may have been gold on the lip of the bowl as well as the lid long ago but all that is left is the brown under color. Enamel is in great condition with only a couple of 1/8 " x 1/8" spots missing and a 1/16" nick inside the foot as it is shown in the photos. The Metropolitan Museum of New York has an example of this raised enamel decoration which was aquired in 1879 It is pictured in the black and white plates #152 of the Oriental Ceramics The World's Great Collections The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York , published by Kodansha. That footed pilgrim flask form has stylized five bats decoration and this bowl has what I believe is the flaming pearl. Bowl is 4 1/4" dia and 3 3/4" tall to top of lid. This is quite rare as some of you will already know. It may have been created as a conceit and made to imitate the appearance of Peking Glass . During the reign of Ch'ien Lung ceramics were made to imitate many materials such as enamelled metals, stones and glass. The mark is not well done and I am not offering it as 18th C even though it might be. T is a identical mark on the lid and the bowl. Sale is final and as is. Please check my feedback. I am listing one but I have four and will list the others if this one sells. Bidders in China please read carefully. NO PAYPAL. Western Union OK. NO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you very much. I pack well and do not over-charge for shipping to China . I have sold and sent several 18th C porcelains to China and buyers were quite happy. Please email if you have questions. Note as of 5/ 23/ 07 : After reviewing the new Bidpay and it's policies I rescind any prior consent to accept payments through Bidpay. I apologize for any confusion. International Postal Money Orders and Western Union payments are welcome. Please review my feedback. Thank you.
