This exceptional still life oil painting dates from the 19th century, and is likely French or possibly Dutch. This still life depicts a spilled basket of lucious red cherries and three glass cruets. We have not found a signature. Canvas is nicely crackled, consistent with its age. Canvas is fairly clean and all colors are vibrant and rich. Wonderfully ornate, gilt wood frame. This is a truly fine work and it would be worthwhile for any buyer to further research the piece, as it may be the work of a known master. Canvas was relined at some point probably in the early to mid 20th century. Frame measures 33 7/8" by 28" by 3 3/4" and canvas measures 26" by 20 3/4". Weighs 11 lbs. Rear bears a stamped seal which is believed to be a customs export mark of approval from Hungarian authorities. Thanks for visiting, and please feel free to contact us with any comments or questions.
