Attractive antique long rug,Gendge central Caucasian,size 3.7x 10.5,circa 1885. Five large steeped octagons Memling gul medallions in blue,yellow,red and white spread over the blue field. All enclose a hooked medallion and have ,inside a star of the Medes set upon a cross. The center of each medallion is studded with a small hour-glass decorated in diverse fashion. The remainder of the field swarms with an infinite variety of elements such as crosses ,stars,animals,and others. The simplicty of the frame is attractive ,against the beige ground of the central border runs a proccesion of highly stylized flowers with eight petals. This border is flanked by two bands of green medahil on a red ground. This piece is in excellent condition with kpsi of 8x7,slight oxidized browns,slight lower pile,small old repair on one corner,complete rug with multicolor selvedge and original ends ,wool weft & warp. No hole,stain,bleeding,rotten or odor. Buyer pays for shipping and insuarnce. please view my other auctions.
