My parents were long time antique dealers and years ago use to deal in old 18th & early 19th century iron. Most of their items came from around the New England states w they had a picker up t that use to get into the old farmhouses. They have not been in the business for years but still have stuff packed away in the house. So now I get to offer some of these great items up for auction. The items I am listing are not reproduction they are old so they will show a lot wear from years of use. Please look at the pictures closely for condition they do have a nice patina to them but show signs of some pitting and rust. This is one of my favorite pieces but Iâe(tm)m not sure how to date it. The hand forged wrought iron candleholder itself looks 18 th century but the wooden base looks and feels more like 19 th century. Now it may have been added to the base later on in its life but with all of the old wax on itâe(tm)s hard to tell. The candleholder has pivoting arms riveted together so it can be extended or folded in. The whole thing will also spin on the rod so it can be used in any direction. The total height is about 29âe high, the wooden pole is about 16âe and the 2 ¼âe thick base is 9 ¼âe by 13 ½âe. is a heavy layer of old wax down most of the pole and the top level of the base is completely covered. The riveted pins have weakened a little from years of use, they are still holding tight but the candleholder now leans a slightly. Because of the size of the package that this item will take to ship I will also offer UPS and USPS Parcel Post as a shipping choice. So at the end of the auction please wait for an invoice with your options. I'm starting all of these items at a low opening bid with no reserve so have fun bidding. I will be happy to combine winnings to save on shipping. I charge actual shipping cost plus one dollar to help with the cost of packing materials. Insurance is recommended but optional. I do try to pack my items well but I have seen what the postal service can do to a package. As the seller I am not responsible for items shipped without insurance. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS - I do ship international - please wait till I send you an invoice before paying. I will pack your item and offer you Priority and a cheaper way of shipping if possible (1 st Class, Flat Rate, etc.). Please remember insurance is only available on Priority packages. The weight I put in for shipping is an estimate since I do not pack my items until they have a bid. I will contact you shortly after the close of the auction with an invoice. Once payment is received items are usually shipped out next day, if paid on a Friday your package probably will not go out till Monday. I will leave feedback after you receive your item and I know that everything is OK. If t is a problem please contact me before leaving feedback. Thanks for looking and Good Luck if you decide to bid.
