FYI: I have been trying to sort threw all the stuff, Well my husband said that I had to get rid of some of this stuff piling up around and he is right, again! I guess that he does not think that I'm going fast enough. Today I pulled a couple of bins out of storage, be sure to check out all the wonderful things I found. A Little bit of this and that out of different estate sales/auctions . Most of the older/wooden items being out of an estate we purchased back in 1996 of Major Lyman F Barry. He and his relatives/ancestors (dating back to the Mayflower) saved everything. I think, I even have a wooden piece of the Mayflower packed away somew All three of these lap desk I have listed all came out of this one estate. Each having their own and passing it down though the generations. Well I have absolutely no need for this in my collections and have started them at a low. I sure hope everything finds a good home. Be sure to add me to your favorites list ! **** This auction is for a BEAUTIFUL Burl Walnut Lap Desk/Box with ornate geometric border on chamfered lid. Design includes Mother of Pearl , Nickel Silver, Ivory and painted Ebony. When acquired it was black with years of grime and dirty and not knowing any better at the time we had some of these boxes re-finished on the outside. The interior is, as it was found. Interior is grain painted and boards that covered storage are missing and shelf, well area is also damaged. a little piece of metal is also missing on rim but has key and lock that does work. It would be a Great project piece, either restoring the interior or making it into a jewelry box. Interior needs work and exterior is Beautiful, great display, only cracks found is in the bottom board and t are a few pieces of inlay missing, raised and/or patched. At arms length not really visible. Great box for it age dating into the early 19 th century, 1800s. Needs a little TLC, It is not marked by maker and I'm guessing that the white painted, black wood is ebony and the silver tone metal is nickel silver. Great wood grain with even color.
