Patria " by Emille Picault All of you bronze sculpture collectors will immediately recognize "Patria", signed "E. PICAULT" with the number 417 just below the signature..please see the pictures. A great reference to see this piece is plate number 2462 in Berman's Bronze book, volume 3. "De Vouement" inscribed on his banner follows so many of Picault's inspired pieces....recording a nation's vow to never accept defeat....however the French did lose the Prussian War which is probably the reference Nonetheless, an inspiring piece of the period. Please examine the pictures closely.....even though plate 2462 shows the top of the lance to be a bit bent...so is this one. I've always felt that just above the banner may have been repaired...but I just don't know....I bought at a great price and selling the same. This guy stands at 17.5 inches to the top of his head...20 inches to the top of the lance. The base measures 3.75 inches by 5.75 inches.I'm selling this piece with a very low reserve....look at the bottom you'll see the correct nuts, etc. for the period. I've tried to show pictures to accurately show the condition of the patina...please go by those.I am a collector...not a dealer. Please feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to answer.International bidders should send me their City, Country, and Mail Code and I'll get a quote on the shipping.I will pack with tons of bubble wrap, double box. etc. for safe delivery. Please check out my other two listings for a couple of bronze dishes.Thank you for considering this item.
