One side has well done painting of Europa rising from the waves on a bull. The back is a painting of ruins. Neither painting is signed. All gold is detailed with burnishing showing dull and bright gold. 33" tall to top of ormolu handles. The ormolu base has a mark which to me appears to be , A & M 216. All bolts and nuts are cut and tapped indicating they are original as shown, I replaced one element inside to vase . The original piece was a large cork kind of item that fell apart when decompressed when I took the vase apart to inspect it thoroughly. Ormolu is all good and the handles are composite with iron screws connecting the elements. All of the ormolu is cast and hand chased. The hand chasing is good but not equal to the best of the Sevres mountings I have seen. It is good work though showing attention to quality. Paintings are both in good condition as well as the gold on the cobalt blue ground. The top vase in mounted on the bottom porcelain base with a hollow tube mounted in the top peice fitting tightly on the bottom one. The wooden anchor in the base is old but I don't know if it is the original .The damage on the vase is limited to read more
