In this auction we have a fantastic silver vase with a blown glass insert. The vase without the stand is approx. 10" high and approx./ 113/4" with the teak stand. This is a very busy piece with 3 dragons forming the feet of the vase. and dragons and clouds covering the vase. This is hand chased with the utmost detail by a master silver smith and is signed on the bottom in Chinese and with English initials. I tried to read the initials but could not make it out as it is on the narrow bottom of the vase. The vase is held onto the base by three screws on the bottom of the vase and held with 3 nuts which have a special shape . It was impossible to get a magnifying glass into the narrow space but could see Chinese writing and the initials but not clear enough to make them out. The designs are also pierced and cut out and the amount of work that went into this vase is incredible with the smallest of scales on the body of the dragons. It is impossible for any photos to show how fabulous this vase is.This trumpet shaped vase is approx. 4 3/4 " acrooss the top. Thank you for looking

I was able to get a jewelers loop into the tight space and the initials appear to be TC or LC or IC, still very difficult to make out but this may help out.

I have further information concerning this vase. The initials are definitely TC for Tuck Chang who was a prolific silversmith during the 19th c His work is highly sought after . I used the word Sterling to describe the silver but it is correctly referred to as silver export. Again I must state that this piece is of unusual high quality and can easily be reffered to as museum quality. The serious collector of Chinese silver export would have a hard time finding a piece to equal this type of craftmanship.
