This listing is for a beautful Sterling Silver compote or centerpiece made by Tiffany & Co. in the 1891-1902 period. The compote has a very classic and elegant design and stands 5 1/8" high with a 7 1/2" top diameter and weighing slightly over 1 pound or 470 grams. This lovely pedestal compote has an engraved band around the top with a design of shells between cornucopia and mixed with swirls and foliage and a matching band decorated the bottom rim. The silver is in excellent Estate condition showing only normal signs of minimal use. T are no dents, dings or other flaws on this lovely compote. It is marked on the bottom of the top dish inside the pedestal base with "Tiffany & Co., 5386 Makers 1019, Sterling Silver" with "T" below and lower on the base is stamped "2 1/2 Pints". This mark was used from 1892-1902 under the directorship of Charles L. Tiffany. The "5386" is the pattern number for a pattern which originally designed in 1879. The second number "1019" was the order number. This lovely compote is from my personal 30 year collection of silver that I am currently offering for sale.
