For your consideration, a truly spectacular 19th century Wedgwood beef set, featuring a large platter and 12 serving plates. This beautiful set is decorated in the desirable flow blue that was so popular during the period. The center panel of the large oblong platter features a pastoral scene with a long horn bull and four grazing cows. Four additional scenes of cattle are featured on the platter's border. The platter measures 17" X 13". The round plates feature a different scene of a large herd of cattle in the center. They also have four more cattle scenes on their borders. The plates measure 10" in diameter. The platter and plates all bear the Wedgwood stamp on their reverse. Additionally, the platter is incised with the letters SP and the numbers 3 and 10. The plates are incised with "Wedgwood & Co. Ltd. Dunstat" and the numbers 4 and 10. The condition of this wonderful set is quite remarkable. T are a scant few cutlery abrasions, only visible when held to strong light. T is some crazing on the plates, but I do not feel that it detracts from them. Also expect to find some glaze irregularities as is common with these types of wares. As you can see in the photo, two plates have a chip to the underside of their rims. They are not visible from the front. These will be profesionally packed and must be insured. The shipping charge is an estimate. As soon as these are packaged I will revise the listing to include the actual shipping amount. International bidders, I will send you the exact shipping cost based on destination at auction's end.
