19th cent.Rosewood Sewing Box Silver Trim Description: A fine antique late 19th century sewing box with a rosewood or mahogany veneer.The outside of the box is done in silver trim and a unengraved silver blank for initials.The lock is in working condition with its original key. Inside the lid has a mirror that you can take out,the former owner wrote her name on the back of the mirror.It looks like " Martha Sansbury " I am not sure about the last name its hard to read.The box has seven lidded compartments,a pin cushion , and a slot about four inches long that is lined with the same material the pin cushion is made of.T is also a small open compartment that has two notches for two spindle's,both spindles are included.I am not sure what they were used for.The condition is very good ,the mirror shows a small amount of silver loss.The box has a few spots of missing veneer,its very minor and is shown in the photos.The hinges are a bit loose, it looks like the screws just need to be tighted. 13"l. x 8-5/8"d. x 3-5/8"h.
