For sale a microscope made by famous maker "E Hartnack" from Germany, who was located in Paris. This is a continental style microscope which is 9 1/2" in closed and 11 1/2" in fully extended position. It retains almost all of its golden lacquer except a small amount is missing from the pillar. This microscope unlike most of the instruments of this type is inclinable, with the joint connecting with the stage plate and the pillar. It has coarse mechanism manipulated by sliding the tube up and down while the fine focus mechanism is located on the top of the limb which,is fully functional and smooth. It comes with one divisible objective which seems to be 1/8th, 1/6th and 1/4th by removing the three lens elements lenses on free of any break or scratches as you can see in the picture. The stage is square with circle of stops to allow amount of light at available rate. Underneath the stage which is tight with good stops at appropriate levels. The microscope entirely make of brass except, the continental horse shoe feet which, seems to be made of iron and weighted down with lead. The mirror is two sided with one side concave and other side flat and appears to be without any blemishes. The attaching screw seems to be broken but mirror could still be attached without effecting the functionality of this microscope. The inscription on this scope reads "E. Hartnack Cie Place Dauphine 21 Paris" and it does not seem to have any serial number imprinted on the scope but t is a number on the box 12215. That seems to be the serial number of this microscope. The microscope is housed in well constructed mahogany box with some what of a worn plush lining inside of a top cover otherwise, if does not have any cracks or breaks. It has a lock but no key. Stage seems to have original retaining clips to hold on the specimen slides. I accept Paypal and money order. Local pick up available in the LA area. Cash only accepted for local pick-up. Thanks
