c.1870/1880 England: Victorian Brass Mirror (MAY BE WALL HUNG OR TABLE TOP) DESCRIPTION: This ornate and pristine Victorian brass mirror was purchased from 156 Grays Antique Market in London in 1990 for 600 pounds (that is $1200.00 today) and dated c/1870/1880 England. The frame of the mirror is beaded with ornate details including floral medallions in the right, left and lower centers of the frame. The top of the frame is crowned with a delightful full body cherub. The upper right and left corners are adorned with a innocent cherub face while the lower right and left corners are adorned with a menacing gargoyle. This beveled mirror is a perfect example of Victorian taste. It is very finely done and in excellent condition. All pieces are original with no repairs or evident damage. MEASUREMENTS: The mirror measures 14 1/2" in height and 10 1/2" in width. The full body cherub detail in the top center of the mirror measures 3 1/2" in height and 3 1/2" in width. The gargoyles in the lower right and left hand corners measure 2 1/4" in height and 1 3/4" in width. The cherub faces in the upper right and left hand corners measure 1 3/4" in height and 1 3/4" in width. All measurements are taken at the widest point. This piece was acquired from an estate in Atlanta and she collected only the finest art and accessories. The original receipt from Grays will be provided to the winning bidder .
