A rare early 19th century certificate for an obligation of 1000 rubles,issued by the Russian Government, The Netherlands , 1825 Description: On offer is this genuine Dutch certificate, issued by the Russian government, of a 6% obligation of 1000 rubles. The certificate was issued in 1825 and was meant to expire in 1919. It was guaranteed by the Tsarist Government for the payment of interest and holds number 10062. This certificate comes with several of the original coupons (1918-1919), which were intended to be redeemed every 6 months. The document is entirely in Dutch and reads: “Houder dezes is geregtigd tot een Kapitaal van DUIZEND ROEBELS in ASSIGNATEN rentende Zes pCt. ingeschreven in het Grootboek van het Russische Keizerrijk, ten namen van: Gerardus Blancke & Zoon, Chemet en Weetjen en Van de Broeke & Comp, bewaarders der fondsen […]” (“Holder of this is granted a capital of one thousand rubles in assignats with an interest of 6 percent, registered in the general ledger of the Russian monarch, under the name of: Gerardus Blancke & Zoon, Chemet en Weetjen en Van de Broeke & Comp, keepers of funds [...]”) The payment of the interest coupons and the principle ceased at the time of the Russian (communist) Revolution of 1917, which repudiated all Czarist debts.
