19th Century Doulton Burslem Large� Art Pottery Vase Romanesque Grecian Wedding� Offered for your consideration is a Large Doulton Art Pottery Vase from the late 19th century. There are three dancers celebrating around this wonderful large traditional vase. The decoration that is Romanesque or Grecian is hand-painted, the surface is embossed with a lace texture. The neck is gold metallic, all surface designs appear to be cold processed, although the base is glazed, most of the surface is a matte . Measurements: 16 inches high and is 7 inches at the widest. Condition: It is in overall excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There are minor light surface scratches and wear as well as other signs of expected light wear commensurate with age. 1882-1901 Between 1882 and 1901 various Pinder, Bourne & Co. and Doulton marks appear on the earthenware and bone china (from c. 1884) produced at the Niles St factory. The most common Doulton mark is circular with the central four interlocking ‘D’ symbols that continued in later marks. A similar device with a crown above, was used from 1886 to mark the appointment of Doulton as potters to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII, following the death of Queen Victoria in 1901.
