The good quality French single barrel 8 day timepiece movement with anchor escapement is stamped on the back plate with the serial number 5201 . This matches the serial number on the rear of the dial and the dial housing indicating these parts are original to the clock. The heavy pendulum may be a replacement but is old and in keeping with the period of the clock. The movement has recently been stripped, cleaned and serviced so is in working order and the clock comes with its original winding key. The 10cm (4”) white enamel dial is in good condition with no chips or cracks. It has black Roman numerals to mark the hours and black minute markers. The typically French moon shape hands are original to the clock and contrast nicely with the white dial. The dial is enclosed by a brass bezel with thick bevelled glass that is free from chips but does have some minor scratches commensurate with the age of the clock. The nicely proportioned architectural style black slate case is in good condition and typical of the late Victorian period with the contrasting dark red marbled inset panels. The case is further enhanced with stylised gold intaglio designs typical of the period (see photos).
