This bold Victorian porcelain cup stands 7 cms tall, with a sharply waisted foot and ring handle. Mr Oldcrockles used to go to Sunday School in the dim and distant past, and remembers learning stirring verses like this by heart. Beautifully gilded in flowing copperplate script, the uplifting message reads: The loss of Gold is great, The loss of Time is more, But losing Christ is such a loss, That no man can restore. CONDITION: Very good with no cracks, chips or restoration; some very light rubbing to gilded top rim. Please watch this space if you’re interested in eclectic collectables. Mr and Mrs Oldcrockles are contemplating the tempus fugit possibility of downsizing and must start reducing a lifetime’s accumulation of . . . well, anything and everything.
