This listing is for an authentic 19th century iron tomahawk trade axe or belt axe, attributed to the Kiowa-Comanche and will date to the 1870-1880's historic period. Originally collected in Texas, this item features a forged iron head that measures 5 1/2 inches long x 2 1/4 inches wide across the bottom of the blade. It has an usual cut spur and was most likely originally traded as a belt axe which was at some point later used as a war weapon and adorned with brass tacks, old trade cloth, parfleche wrapping and cut & burned designs on both sides of the handle. T are also battle tally notches on the top of the handle. The top of the head has a cut piece of parfleche and brass tacks. The overall piece shows a nice patina and natural aging and measures 18 inches total length. This item came from a large, private estate of authentic Plains & Plateau Indian historic-period artifacts that contained a lot of terrific bead work, knives, weapons and pipes and would make an excellent addition to your own Native American collection. We have a fair market value reserve on this piece! Serious bidders and collectors only please. Thanks for your interest & good luck bidding!
