I purchased this sword a few years back from an estate sale,my first and I am in no way expert in this area. Please view the pictures for your best description......... I have put a VERY SMALL reserve on this item. Most of the information I received came from some very nice gentleman on THE SFI website . (If you want to read the threads yourself please ask me more).... The sword's total length is 36". The blade has a fleur de lis pattern (on both sides),with FABRICA DE TOLEDO stamped on it. The hilt has a Eagle sitting on a cactus devouring a snake. A phrygian cap above. Ivory grip and wire braiding. T are 2 hairline cracks on the ivory, you should be able to see this in the pictures. This sword is shown in the 1931 catalog of Mexican swords, produced by Carl Eickhorn of Germany (sword # 678) with the blade being made in Toledo Spain. I could NOT find a stamp (eickhorn) or a squirrel on or near the hilt...However this is still a Mexican regulation sword of that date. Scabbard is included...In my opinion this is a very nice sword, with great detail. The blade is nice and tight, the tip is not broken, but it does have a very small notch up further on blade, and some discoloration. This sword really needs someone that knows something about swords, and how to care for them,I do not, it was the detailing that I was drawn to. Thank you read more
