Girl With a Dog 19th Century Oil Painting Naive School Indistinctly Signed A superb 19th century Naive School oil painting. It depicts a young girl with a small dog looking out from a building. The painting is very well done and is clearly by a highly accomplished Naive School artist. It is in very good condition however does have craqulure throughout and other very minor imperfections. The painting is in a slip and a very impressive frame, which is also in very good condition; the picture is ready to hang and would grace any home. The painting is indistinctly signed and is dated 1856. Naïve art is a classification of art that is often characterized by a childlike simplicity in its subject matter and technique. While many naïve artists appear, from their works, to have little or no formal art training, this is often not true.
