19th Century REDWARE POTTERY Antique JUG / Pitcher

Up for auction is a very interesting antique redware jug / pitcher. This piece has a wonderful old green glaze to the upper section that is very unique. This pot came from the same old estate in my area as the other pots we currently have up and I was told that a family member dug these up from the backyard of the home many years ago. This seemed to be a likely story given the long history of the area w is came from (the Tompkinsville Stapleton section of Staten Island, NY) We believe this is an 19 century American piece but it is also possible that it is older... possibly late 18th century. We really know nothing else about this piece except that it appears to be quite old. The surface has some soiling on it as well as some minor chips etc... from years and years gone by. The inside is quite dirty as well. We have not and will not try to clean this piece... it is just as we purchased it. This is a nice substantial pot measuring 11.5" tall and about 7" at it's widest point. Please see all of the photos for a good visual description. This is a great item for any shabby chic farmhouse style interior. Be sure to check out our other auctions for other pieces from this collection. Thank you for looking.
