Size of actual image is approx 5.25". Very rare 19th century portrait miniature in oil of the English cricketer THOMAS GOAD BLAIN who was born in 1827 and died in 1878 at Chiselhurst, Kent as inscribed on the reverse. He only played for England between 1850-51 and it is very difficult to find any original portraits of 19th century cricketers as they are all housed in private collections. It is signed E.Moira who is a well listed portrait miniaturist and photographer and also lived at Chiselhurst, he was of Portugese descent and originally named Eduardo de Lobo de Moura. Condition: Excellent condition. Housed in oval gilt frame that is in poor condition, behind convex glass. The picture is loose from the frame, but will be securely packed.
