An exceptional 19th century camphor wood blanket chest. This has been restored and given a hand rubbed oil finish to highlights the beautiful grain of the wood but leaving the camphor wood properties (interior is natural wood). A tack medallion is on the top and the front has a swag, both are framed by a tack border. The tack decoration is original and painstakingly removed and replaced in original holes. About 80% of the original tacks survived the rest were missing or damaged beyond use. Chest is dovetailed and would great as a coffee table.
