Offered here is a fine unused 19th century rice paper tea crate label. This was produced for Tait & Co, which operated in Taiwan from 1845 until about 1911. This label features a lovely gold seated Buddha against a dark red background. The printing is in black and gold and reads: "Cold Joss Chop Choicest New Seasons Formosa Oolong Tait & Co. No." This piece measures approximately 14 4/4" long by 13" wide -- pretty evenly cut around all edges. This is done on a heavy rice paper in amazingly good condition for having been storage for some forty years or more. There is no damage, tears, losses or repairs. Colors are rich and strong and overall a remarkable piece of art in very fine condition.
