19 th c.Colmonel Scottish communion token – church!
Front: COLMONEL / (church) / I COR:XI.24 Reference Works: Colmonell, or earlier, Kilcolmanel or Kilconstantin, belonged first to the Priory of Iona and later to the Abbey of Holyrood. This token, likely from the 19 th century, was probably used under the ministry of one of these men: Alexander Hill (1815-1816)Thomas Blair (1816-1849)William Dill (1850-1867)James William Milroy (1868-1884)James M’Fadzean (1884-?) This token is one of many which will be offered on eBay over the next some months, part of an extensive collection of Scottish Presbyterian communion tokens recently purchased in Scotland. There are a wide variety of tokens, both 18th and 19th century, from Church of Scotland parishes and from the various secession churches, including Burgher and Anti-Burgher, Relief, New Light and Old, Original and United Secession, Free Church and United Presbyterian. Some are from large city parishes, with well-known ministers, others from small & obscure country parishes, the length and breadth of Scotland.
