A large lip applied to the neck, this is a quart size 19th century pressed flint glass bar bottle. Fire polished smooth and demonstrating a pressed bead and four petal pattern or quilt pattern in the glass. This was a working piece from the 1850's and '60's period of American pressed flint glass and has scattered high point wear with flakes and small chips on the pattern's edges and concentrated base wear. The pontil mark is deep and polished. We originally thought this was the Sandwich Star pattern, but it is unfamiliar and could be a very rare find. There is a circle of staining about two inches up from the bottom. It rings when tapped and stands 9 5/8th inches tall. It is in good condition and should be considered an important addition.
