I am offering this wonderful pair of antique spectacles and case that were found in a local estate. The spectacles fold and fit into a fancy handmade Chinese silk case that hangs from a cord. The rigid case is elaborately decorated with metallic thread. Found inside the case, with the spectacles, is an old handwritten note that I have pictured. I believe it reads: " Spectacles & case from Miss Lybarger- Olivia- Mrs. H.C.H". The spectacles are beautifully made. I believe they are made of nickel-plated brass. They have large round lenses with a square bridge. The stems are hinged in the middle to fold into place, and end with delicate tortoise pads. The spectacles measure 4 3/4" across. The diameter of the round frames is 1 3/4". The lenses seem to be without magnification, as when I look through them I see no change. I have examined these spectacles but have found no marks or identification. I believe they are 19th century, of Chinese origin. They are in excellent condition. I see no damage. The case is in good condition with some aging and loose threads in the silk embroidery. The case measures 6" X 2 1/2" X 1". My close up pictures show the loose threads I am referring to. Thanks for looking! *NOTICE TO INTERNATIONAL BUYERS* I am happy to sell to international buyers. However, I will not misrepresent the selling price on Customs Forms. Please don't ask me to do so. Also, I will ship items which meet the size and weight requirement via First Class International Mail if the selling price is under $100. For more valuable items, I am only shipping items over $100 via Priority International Mail so that tracking information and insurance will be available. Therefore, depending on the country, this may result in higher duty or customs taxes for the buyer. This is completely the responsibility of the buyer. I have nothing to do with the taxes or charges imposed by your country. I hope you will consider this information before bidding so that there will be no confusion after the fact. I appreciate international buyers and look forward to doing business with you. Thanks!
