For your examination is this beautiful early 19th Century French violin. This is an fabulous hand-carved violin...a work of art with a powerful voice to match its sculptural beauty. There is absolutely no enhancement of the sound whatsoever...no special microphones, no computer alteration, no studio effects.The piece is an excerpt from the Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor. The player is a violin student who welcomes your comments. Enjoy! This violin is one of the highest examples of the art of violinmaking.The carving is spectacular...museum quality. The timbers usedin this violin are extraordinary...very old specimens. The back is carved from fine old European maple. Thetop is a really fine example of old Spruce tonewood. The detail of the carving just amazes me. The carving isthe work of an old master. Just look at the sculpture thattakes the place of the normal scroll. Even the back has beautifully carved detailing and inlaying. ORIGINAL LABEL This is a special instrument with powerful sound...suitable for a soloist, a concertmaster, or a strong ensemble player. From the remarkable carved scroll...the sensuously carved andfluted sound holes...to the beautifully arched body (which likely accounts for the big, warm, sonorous tone) this istruly a very special instrument...a rare find. If you area professional violinist or a collector of fine instruments,please examine the photos and view the video. Violinsof this quality are rarely seen here on Ebay anymore. There is the remnants of what appears to be some kind of crest that I cannot make out. I've included a photo. This is fantastic violin and as usual, I have included a video sound sample so that you can judge this violin for yourself. I recommend that you string it and have it set up to yourliking. Its a gorgeous violin by a legendary French maker. Exceptional antique violins of this age and in this fine state of preservation are becoming more and more difficult to acquire on Ebay. They are highly sought after by professional violinists,violin teachers and private collectors. There areno post cracks. no cracks to the scroll or neck. Everything is tight and solid. This is an estate instrument so naturally, there is somewear...very minor scuffs, dings as you would expect from an instrument of this age (and which in my opinion add character and validate the age of the instrument).
