Beautiful antique 19th C Shield design with large Palmettes Gendge rug, central Caucasian, size 3.4x5.7,circa late 19th century. A rug with an all-over design of shield like palmettes. Its design is related to the famous group of rugs dating from the 18th Century . The design on the field is superb . The wide awsame principal border, in stepped pattern,bears a single repeated in white ,yellow,green,blue,sand and coral stylized beak of an eagle. T is a good harmoney of coloring between the border and field. Inside of each of beak t is design of animals. This piece is in excellent condition with high and good pile throughout,slight oxidized browns,kpsi of 7x9,complete rug with original ends and edges,partially rewoven one ends,wool weft and warp. No hole, stain,bleeding,rotten or odor. Please view my other auctions.
