Up for auction is a fantastic antique French Decanter Tantalus Box. It was made Circa 1850-1890. The case is made of wonderful dark Walnut wood. With Boulle Brass inlaid around each panel of wood. It has the original brass lock with an old key. The lock works great. It turns two revolutions to either direction to fully lock or unlock the lock on it. The interior of the case is designed to hold 4 decanters & 16 Cordials. It also has two hidden flip up compartments on either side of the decanters by pushing down on the backside of the flip up panel. The brass is in great condition with one small corner on the lid slightly bent upward. It is missing the thinnest inlay of brass just inside of the larger thicker band rectangle on the front. The wood itself itself looks great has original finish with little wear. The bottom panels have buckled a little bit. There is one small piece of wood on the back top left & back right lower corners. There is some inlay of brass or another type of wood missing from around the key hole. The case measures 11-3/4" by 10-1/2" by 8-3/4". Inside is a wonderful set of original glass decanters & cordials. There are 4 Decanters in all three are original to the set which are matching bottles & stoppers which have been engraved with flowers, dots & bands as well as the stoppers identical. They are very fine & clear glass most likely by the Baccarat Glass works factory in France. Which made most of the glass for these types of sets. The third decanter is a much earlier decanter hand blown with original blown stopper. It is engraved with a clipper ship on either side. It has 5 cordials which match the Baccarat style decanters with flowers & dots. The decanters measure 7-3/4" by 3" by 3". The cordials measure 2-3/4" by 1-1/8". There is no damage to any of the glass that I could find. Please enjoy bidding on this item without reserve. Purchased estate fresh in New Jersey. Please read all terms and info below before bidding.
