Please wait for the adjusted invoice before sending payment.ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please contact me beforeA large and very handsome Syrian silver and copper inlaid bronze or copper jar with gilt surface. Unlike the majority of this type of Syrian metal ware with silver inlay, which usuallyhas a brass body this jar appears to be of copper alloy or bronze with high copper content and still retains a considerable amount of its original gilt surface. (I do not know of gilt being used with brass.) However, it would need to be tested to determinethe true composition.It is exceptionally well formed with a refined elegant profile and superb proportions. The inlay is beautifully designed and executed with extensive chasing to the silver surfaces and rich background chasing over the entire bronze surface with the exception of the foot sides and neck. The effect is sumptuous and suggestive of a luxurious brocade textile. In over all very fine condition with only extremely minor losses to theinlay. Undisturbed original patinated surface.
