Rare 19th Century phrenology head with inscription " This Bust Apprv'ed by D.'Spurzham Sold by The Coffee 55 Canal Street N.Y.
Note the spelling of Spurzheim... The bust at auction was probably greated after Spurzheim's death (1832) to capitalize on his fame and research. Only a few Spurheim busts are known. This bust has a unique misspelling that makes it one of a kind. 12 inches tall. Hollow. Circa 1880. A few small subtle chips- see photos.
