This coin is from the Historic Colorado Mining Series, featuring the The First Gold Rush - 1858 Series . This is a pure .999 silver coin with 24k gold plating. On the front is the Great American Eagle trimmed in 24k gold including the rim, the Eagles talonsare clinging to gold twigs. His wings are fully spread with a banner between them, which reads: 24 KARAT GOLD 999 PURE SILVER. The gold is over plated on the first 1/3rd of the top of the banner, this part is hard to read. I have discovered that this over plating is a mint error missed during inspection, t are a few more coins like this one. T are a few more errors on this coin, the word RUSH is a very weak on the top, also the top of the 5 in 1858 is the same, the last O in COLORADO is open at the top, on the back the OR in HISTORIC is weak at the top, also the last R in SILVER is weak on the bottom. I'm surprised they missed so many mint errors, possibly, at that time, the inspector may have been distracted by looking at his co-workers legs?, other than the few errors, this coin is in excellent condition, it would make a fine addition to any casino coin collection. T are no contact marks on the front, it shows its full luster on both sides. The back is also in next to mint condition, it has a silver rim with a 24k gold plated center and edge, some of the gold plating spilled over onto the rim, also the center shows a gold spill area, t is one tiny scratch above the A in Colorado. This side shows an Old Prospector, with his gear and burro walking on the banks of a mild running river, t is foliage on the foreground and the foothills, high mountains in the background, the details are astonishing. It has a partial reeded edge. T are some very tiny stress lines on both sides, the coin has to be tilted to see them, this was done when the coin was struck , this is a common occurrence with pure silver coins. Size: 1,7/16" in diameter, 1/8" thick with a weight of 20.0 grams troy, of .999 pure silver with a 24 karat gold plating on both front and back. This coin is in excellent condition for being over 9 years old, t are only the tiny mint lines and one very small scratch. Please view the enlarged pictures and judge this coin for yourself. The .25 ¢ Sliver Strike Slot Machine . From 1995 to 2000 t were Silver Strike Slot Machines in every casino all over the United States, on cruise ships and river boats, these machines varied in type, some paid pure silver coins, other paid silver and gold coins, then t the machines that paid silver and brass tokens. This coin came from Central City, Black Hawk or Cripple Creek Colorado. When the 3 collectors coins would line up on the the pay line, one pure silver and 24k gold plated coin would be paid from the hopper for the $28 jackpot. This coin was minted especially for the .25 ¢ Sliver Strike Slot Machines in Colorado. T were 3 in this series but they do have several different variations on the backs, like some have a running stream with lots of ripples, lakes, slow running streams with small ripples. Others show spring time with grass and foliage, the prospector is dressed in different clothing, in some strikes he's wearing glasses, small minor changes that only a true collector would notice. The third and rarest coin is the .999 silver Gold Rush with only the Eagle plated in 24k gold, I have seen two of these coins in ten years. The .25 ¢ Sliver Strike Slot Machine Retirement . All the Silver Strike Slot Machines have been retired, as will as all the silver coins, pure silver coins with 24k gold trim, as well as the Colorado silver and brass tokens, all these coins and tokens are now becoming rare collector items.
