FIRST SERIES EVER PRODUCED SUPER RARECARRIER INCLUDEDSMALL PRINT RUNPACKED & SHIPPED SAFENON-FUNCTIONING PROMOTIONAL CARD **3/21/11 - It was very difficult to find this card and carrier. They are in perfect mint condition. But sadly I have this feeling that this is probably the last one I'm going to come across. So good luck all! It's a sweet one. StarkivesThis was the first Starbucks Card series EVER produced. In February of 2001 at Starbucks annual partner (employee) conference this card and carrier set were given to the invitees in order to get them excited about this new never-before-heard-of Starbucks Card thing. This card was produced before they had decided what the overall card design and naming theme was going to be. Because of this, you'll notice they call it a 'Giftcard', a term they intentionally avoid today. You'll notice too that this card was produced prior to their deciding on the clear strip on the right. This is a very special card. These cards DO NOT actually work at Starbucks and never did. It was produced as a promotional item almost a full year before the card program actually launched. Because attendance at the 2001 conference was about 3000 people, I assume there were about 3000 produced. There is a lot of promotional text on the carrier (front, back and inside) as well as the back of the card itself. Because the program was just being created they packed as much information as they new at that time onto the carrier. This is a real find and doesn't come up for sale very often.Good luck.
