I am offering this fascinating lucite and bakelite constructed "FISH" brooch with a large prong set, faceted red glass eye. This piece measures 2 1/2" and is in very good condition. I think it dates to the 1950s. The body of the fish is an apple juice color that blends to an olive green color. The body is one piece, with the tip of the tail being carved. The fin is a mottled butterscotch color and the lips are an opaque butterscotch color. These pieces have been carved and applied to the body of the fish. The body of the fish was drilled for the eye and inset with a white metal setting that is pronged to hold the red glass "jewel" eye. The metal setting for the jewel has some darkened glue that shows around the back of the eye hole. It has a heat set, one piece pin back . The pin back is original and in very good working condition. This pin is quite unusual and a great example of 50s vintage plastic jewelry. I have tried to use a lot of close up pictures to show you this pin and I hope they clarify in pictures what is difficult to convey in words. The colors and the pictures are quite accurate, but let me know if you have questions. Thanks for your interest.
