This set of 2 free blown bottles is a mix of light and dark olive green in color. Both bottles are dull in finish. All have beautiful shaped kicked up underside. The onion has a sharp pontil scar, but the mallet is very smooth. This first bottle, an onion bottle has a narrow tapering neck and narrow applied overlapping string rim. This bottle has has a scratch in the neck, it looks like a crack in the picture but its not. The second bottle, a mallet has a long neck with a nice swirl in the glass and an unusual applied string lip. This bottle also has a flared bottom and does not sit strait when on a shelf. This bottle has a nice shine with a beatiful darker olive color This bottle is one from a collection of 150 onion bottles that will be auctioned off over the next few weeks. I collected these bottles over a 5 year period while living in Guyana. This collection of bottles was recovered from the Essequibo river in Guyana while diving off the banks of fort Island. Fort Island has the ruins of a Dutch Fort that was built in the early 1700. Fort Island was the seat of Government of the country during the Dutch colonial era. The condition of these bottles is excellent with NO chips, dings, or cracks. Both of these these bottles were recovered in a very sandy area so t is more scratches than normal. Both bottles in the set have typical surface wear and abrasions. These bottles has never been cleaned. These bottles should polish up nicely if desired, T is some light interior and exterior stains that should clean out fairly easily. If you are looking for a distinguished, unpolished, and legitimate early 18th century wine bottle, they donâe(tm)t get much better. Height of each bottle is between 7 1/2 to 9 inches and the body diameter is 5 3/4 inches. These bottles will make a wonderful early 18th century decorative accessory, a decanter for actual use in serving wine, or a highlight addition to your dealer inventory. Thanks for looking, tracking, bidding, and book-marking this fine 18th century tavern bottle. Absolutely guaranteed authentic. Good luck
