Antique Georgian Sterling Silver

Master Salt or Mustard Spoons

William Fearn & ??

Dated 1800 and 1801

Up for auction and offered without reserve are two Antique English Georgian Sterling Silver Master Salt or Mustard Spoons. These Old English patterned spoons are dated with London Hallmarks for 1800 and 1801. Spoons measure 4âe long and are both in very good condition with no splits, breaks or repairs. One spoon has a couple of tiny dings in the bowl which are only noticeable on close inspection. Both spoons have monograms which are worn so you are unable to make out the letters. Spoons are hallmarked on the back with English hallmarks as follows; Lion Passant (Sterling Silver), date letter E (1800) on one spoon and F (1801) on the other, and George III head. The maker mark of W.F. for William Fearn is clear on the spoon dated for 1801 with an obscured mark above which I believe is W.E. for William Eley. On the other spoon the maker mark is worn and not readable. These two spoons were purchased as a pair several years ago. A wonderful pair of antique salt spoons which if they could talk would have a lot to say being 208 years old!

PLEASE NOTE: I believe in the auction process and that is why I always start all my auctions at $9.99. I do not sell reproductions and I always research my items and provide as much information as possible. I have consistently listed items that I know to be worth hundreds of dollars but I still start the auction at $9.99. With this process everyone has a chance to obtain a treasure for a bargain price.
