Hi. You are bidding on a pair of vintage 1895-1925 bronze and ivory lady figure busts from Peter Tereszczuk. He was an Austrian artist who worked in this medium and is quite well known. These busts are small, about 2 1/2 inches tall and are on square bases. They appear to be Eastern European women and they are two diferent women. The first is wearing some type of head wrap and has a button front type dress. She is very detailed and has her head cocked to the left. Her face is quite nice, but the ivory has cracked vertically w the natural seams are. The second figure has her hair pulled back in a bun at the nape of her neck and is wearing a high collared plain dress. Her face is also very detailed and she really resembles the Virgin Mary. Both figures have some discoloration to the ivory on the faces. I would have attempted to clean it, but after researching it I decided that discretion was the better part of valor and I will let the buyer clean them. T is some residue around the faces, so I don't know if this was from the original production or repair. Both figures are signed on the back and sit on hollow rectangular bases. We are not sure what exactly these were meant to be (other than a decorative Art Nouveau figure) so if you have more information, please let me know. These pieces are at least 100 years old and would seem to satisfy read more
