Description This attractive set of two matching Chinese export porcelain teacups and saucers has an attractive light brown glaze at the exterior. Such brown glaze is typical for the so-called Batavia wares, although this glaze is somewhat lighter than usual. This makes the French name of this type of wares, i.e. Café au Lait, certainly appropriate. The front of the saucers and the inside of the cups are decorated with a central flower medallion, surrounded by two arrangements of flowers and leafs. Height of cups 1.75 inches (4.5 cm) and diameter of saucer 5 inches (12.5 cm). Age Kangxi, ca. 1700. Guaranteed over 250 years old. Condition Good, with all pieces having heavy crackling in the glaze, some of which appear to go trough the porcelain.
